JOYFUL THIRD SUNDAY OF ADVENT! "The Friendly Beasts" by the Sunday School, etc!
/A blessed Advent everyone! The Third Sunday in Advent...Gaudate Sunday! The Sunday of Joy!
Today's message comes to us from the Children of Trinity! Kristina Gaumitz has coordinated and produced a Video rendition of "Friendly Beasts" using many of the artistic, singing, piano, violin, and dancing talents of Sunday Schoolers and Families. Enjoy this JOY filled time.
To follow the Narrative Lectionary you can turn to Isaiah 61 and read through. This is a time, after the Babylonian Captivity. Many have returned to Jerusalem but they are faced with devastation. God's comes to them with Comfort and Strength..."Rebuild! But not in the ususal way....from top down mandate. Rather gather and heal from the "least of these" and their society will truly be rebuilt.
Blessings!
Online Trinity Worsip/Joyful Noise and Sunday School for December 6
/Here is our Online Worship for December 6th....Joel. About 100 years after people returned from Babylon things still weren't all that great. A series of natural disasters (drought, locusts and plague) had people wondering if God was punishing them. No, no, no, says Joel...God simply wants you back and create a life where God is center.
JOYFUL NOISE Here is the link for the Joyful Noise video today! I big thank you to everyone who participated in the Advent video, I am so excited for you all to see the final project!
Otherwise, here is the link for this week's video- God is so good.
We have been with the prophets now for a few Sundays. They were Holy men and women who spoke for God; calling people back into a good relationship with God and each other. Those promises were deep in people's minds, so that when Jesus was born people looked back and said, "Ah! That's what they were talking about." Jesus was called, Emmanuel, which means, "God is with us". No longer separated by misunderstanding or our deciding that OUR way was best. Jesus becomes our best "window" as to what God is all about.
Think about all you know about Jesus; what he was like...who did he care for. What was his number one message?

Daniel in the Lion’s Den
Advent is a season of hope, of waiting…of being content that we must embrace the journey, the places we find ourselves now, and not rush to fulfillment. If ever there was a season tailor made for our world now…facing the darkness,,,

And our Sunday School
Daniel in the Lion’s Den
In Today’s story we meet Daniel, a Jewish man living in Babylon. A few years before the Babylonian Empire had conquered Israel and Judah and the Jewish people we shipped off to live in Babylon.
Living in Babylon wasn’t all bad, but the people yearned ( kind of a heart hunger where you really really wished) …yearned to be home in Jerusalem.
In this story some Babylonian leaders are jealous of Daniel and play a dirty trick by setting up a law they know Daniel won’t be able to follow.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bEM_X25DWPk
Think about what it must have been like to be in that dark cave with hungry lions!
Would you be afraid! I would! But even through his fear Daniel trusted in God and God saved him! WOW!
What does it feel like to be saved from a scary predicament? Remember and share about a time you were in trouble and needed help. I remember when I was in Kindergarten and I climbed a tree and got stuck WAY up in the branches. BOY OH BOY was I happy to see my Dad come and he helped me down.

/Today God's Story/Our Story moves to Jeremiah. Called to confront the King he shifts and tells of God's broken heart due to the faithlessness of all of Isrel. 'I will not write covenants on paper any more, but on their hearts, intertwined into the core of who they are....that THEY may be a living word of hope..."
For the final hymn, "All CRetures of our God and King, we invite you to read and meditate on the lyrics provided as you listen to the piece. l

Online Trinity for November 15th!
/Here is our Worship Service for November 15th! As we move toward Advent in a couple weeks we will be hearing more from the prophets. Today's Narrative Lectionary tells us of Isaiah's Call to be a prophet. The formal name for such a vision is "Theophany", a vision or experience of the presence of God. In past stories God has appeared as a Voice to Abraham, a Burnng Bush to Moses and a Pillar of Fire to the Israelites. Today's story is taking this to a new level.
JOYFUL NOISE! Here is the link for this week's video! We are beginning crafts for advent as well as looking at the music.
Once again here is the link for the google document to sign up for the children's advent program. More information is in the video for this week!

SUNDAY SCHOOL ! Sadly, Pastor's favorite video provider, Saddleback, didn't have a video of the story of the calling of Isaiah. This one's not too bad, a fun group of Book Worms learn about how God connects with His people. In this story Isaiah has a very powerful, maybe a little strange, dream about the glory (flashing fire) of God filling the temple and heavenly creatures with six wings. God calls Isaiah to speak for him and Isaiah says, "Send me!"
Have you ever had a strange of funny dream? Dreams can be like Art, Music or Poetry which connect to an emotional part of who we are. Do you have a favorite song or story? Does it make you feel Happy? Sad? Thoughtful?

Sunday School....Hello all! Our God Story continues with Jonah! This is a fun story about a prophet who tried to say NO to God.
You need to understand that Ninevah was a place that was very very mean to the people of Israel! For Jonah to go there was dangerous…but even scarier for Jonah was that the people of Ninevah might listen to God, change their ways and God would forgive them. Jonah kinda didn’t want that…he wanted to see Ninevah punished.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WOSadLyqshg
Have you ever had to deliver a message you didn’t want to! Did you worry that the people getting the message would be mad?
What do you think it was like in the Belly of the Fish??? Imagine how it would feel…smell…talk about that with your folks…
It may not have been fun for the fish either…the Bible says the fish “threw up” Jonah on the shore. YUCK! Like I said…it is a FUN story. But Jonah got the message…and off to Ninevah he went.

/The tradition of Samuel and Nathan continues 150 years later in Elijah, a "Nabi" a holy man, prophet, willing to speak out against the corruption which has overwhelmed the Kingdom of Israel. But , even though God is on his side, it is no picnic. Elijah flees for his life....

Trinity Worship for October 25!
/On site worship will be DRIVE IN (our first try at this ) at 10:30am Sunday. Confirmation for Nate Elbracht and Louise Najjuuko! All are welcome…not number limit!
Online Worship for this Week-end…The Northwest Intermountain Synod is thrilled to welcome Lutheran leaders of color to our digital pulpit. As our congregations continue to utilize online worship formats, this is a chance to hear siblings we may not have listened to as often and also to provide preaching relief for local pastors. Our hope is that this project helps us begin to better live into the fullness of being the body of Christ. The “Color Amazed Preaching Project” kicks off on Reformation Sunday as the church celebrates God’s renewing Spirit and takes seriously our need to be reformed in order to live out the love of Christ in an ever-changing world.
This first sermon for Reformation Sunday and focusing on the RCL Gospel text of John 8:31-36 is preached by Rev. Lamont Anthony Wells--National Director of the African Descent Lutheran Association and director of LuMin -- ELCA Lutheran Campus Ministries.

Online Worship October 18th!
/Greetings all!
Our Narrative lectionary last Sunday had the people gathering with Moses at Mount Sinai. Now we fast forward and the people have settled in the promised land.
Tribal freedom also leads to a certain amount of chaos, and during this time Holy Men and Women speak for God to help remind the people of God's vision for them.
Have a wonderful weekend.
Pr Wes
A Note from Jill about today's first hymn:
The first hymn today, A Mighty Fortress is Our God, features David Turnbull on trumpet. We recorded our parts separately in the sanctuary at Trinity. Dave Schneider edited the two parts together and added images of Trinity's Ein feste Burg banner along with two photos from PLU, including a bust of Martin Luther.
We invite you to reflect on the Reformation throughout this week.
Next Sunday's Reformation service will be provided by our Synod and shared with our brothers and sisters across the region. The National President of the African Descent Lutheran Association will be preaching for that service.
Online Worship for Octiber 4th!
/Good Day All! Our narrative lectionary took us last week to Joseph and the Hebrew people moving to the land of Egypt to escape famine. Now it's 290 years later and things have not turned out well; a change in administration enslaves the Hebrew people and they cry out for release! We will also look at the ongoing effect of a repeated Passover..."Remember you were once slave in Egypt...oppression of others...and it shall not be so among you...
Have a wonderful Sunday.

Questions for discussion:
What is the WORST job around the house that you can think of?
Taking out Garbage?
Cleaning Toilets?
Sometimes we don’t like to do these jobs but we do because we are part of a family and everyone needs to pitch in.
Imagine if you were picked on, so that ALL the worst jobs were ones you HAD to do!
