November 8th Online Worship

Greetings ALL!  We have attached two things:  Our online Worship service; and also our Online Sunday School lesson. Enjoy and Blessings! Our Joyful Noise from Kristina Gaumnitz will be sent soon!

November 8th Worship!  Our final hymn today, "God of the Sparrow, God of the Whale," was sung and recorded by the Collins family.  Many thanks to all of them for sharing their musical talents with us.  Violet, Lucy and Sophie also made drawings inspired by the words of this hymn.  They are part of our online service for this morning.  All of the verses are included.  Please sing along on verses 1 and 6 and listen during verses 2 through 5.

Sunday School....Hello all! Our God Story continues with Jonah!  This is a fun story about a prophet who tried to say NO to God.

You need to understand that Ninevah was a place that was very very mean to the people of Israel!  For Jonah to go there was dangerous…but even scarier for Jonah was that the people of Ninevah might listen to God, change their ways and God would forgive them.   Jonah kinda didn’t want that…he wanted to see Ninevah punished.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WOSadLyqshg

Have you ever had to deliver a message you didn’t want to! Did you worry that the people getting the message would be mad?

What do you think it was like in the Belly of the Fish??? Imagine how it would feel…smell…talk about that with your folks…

It may not have been fun for the fish either…the Bible says the fish “threw up” Jonah on the shore. YUCK!  Like I said…it is a FUN story.  But Jonah got the message…and off to Ninevah he went.

All Saints Online Worship

The tradition of Samuel and Nathan continues 150 years later in Elijah, a "Nabi" a holy man, prophet, willing to speak out against the corruption which has overwhelmed the Kingdom of Israel. But , even though God is on his side, it is no picnic. Elijah flees for his life....

Trinity Worship for October 25!

On site worship will be DRIVE IN (our first try at this ) at 10:30am Sunday. Confirmation for Nate Elbracht and Louise Najjuuko! All are welcome…not number limit!

Online Worship for this Week-end…The Northwest Intermountain Synod is thrilled to welcome Lutheran leaders of color to our digital pulpit. As our congregations continue to utilize online worship formats, this is a chance to hear siblings we may not have listened to as often and also to provide preaching relief for local pastors. Our hope is that this project helps us begin to better live into the fullness of being the body of Christ. The “Color Amazed Preaching Project” kicks off on Reformation Sunday as the church celebrates God’s renewing Spirit and takes seriously our need to be reformed in order to live out the love of Christ in an ever-changing world.

This first sermon for Reformation Sunday and focusing on the RCL Gospel text of John 8:31-36 is preached by Rev. Lamont Anthony Wells--National Director of the African Descent Lutheran Association and director of LuMin -- ELCA Lutheran Campus Ministries.

Online Worship October 18th!

Greetings all!

Our Narrative lectionary last Sunday had the people gathering with Moses at Mount Sinai. Now we fast forward and the people have settled in the promised land.

Tribal freedom also leads to a certain amount of chaos, and during this time Holy Men and Women speak for God to help remind the people of God's vision for them.

Have a wonderful weekend.

A Note from Jill about today's first hymn:

The first hymn today, A Mighty Fortress is Our God, features David Turnbull on trumpet. We recorded our parts separately in the sanctuary at Trinity. Dave Schneider edited the two parts together and added images of Trinity's Ein feste Burg banner along with two photos from PLU, including a bust of Martin Luther.

We invite you to reflect on the Reformation throughout this week.

Next Sunday's Reformation service will be provided by our Synod and shared with our brothers and sisters across the region. The National President of the African Descent Lutheran Association will be preaching for that service.

Online Worship for Octiber 4th!

Good Day All!  Our narrative lectionary took us last week to Joseph and the Hebrew people moving to the land of Egypt to escape famine. Now it's 290 years later and things have not turned out well; a change in administration enslaves the Hebrew people  and they cry out for release! We will also look at the ongoing effect of a repeated Passover..."Remember you were once slave in Egypt...oppression of others...and it shall not be so among you...

Questions for discussion:

What is the WORST job around the house that you can think of?

Taking out Garbage?

Cleaning Toilets?

Sometimes we don’t like to do these jobs but we do because we are part of a family and everyone needs to pitch in.

Imagine if you were picked on, so that ALL the worst jobs were ones you HAD to do!

The Beginning! Creation from a Farmers Vision.... Online Worship for September 13

Hello Good Folk!

Please please please stay safe out there!  Here is your Online Worship Service for this weekend. Our Narrative Lectionary begins in Genesis, with the wonderful and earthy story of Creation and Adam.  Many may not know it but 'Adam grows from the Hebrew word 'Adamah which means red earth or clay.  The second chapter of Genesis sets the tone for the whole of the story to follow; of Yahweh who will roll up sleeves and be totally immersed in His beloved creation.

Blessings!  Pastor Wes

No Sunday Patio Worship September 13

Are you feeling like maybe we are re-living the plagues of Egypt?

If Pullman being Number One in the nation for COVID wasn't enough, now smoke from surrounding wildfires is settling in...and it looks bad.

Tomorrow's Smoke forecast as "Very Unhealthy"...Sunday is expected to be at "Dangerous" levels where they don't recommend going outside at all, even if you are healthy.

Congregational President, Sue Rammelsberg and I agree, Sunday Patio Worship at 10:30 will not be happening. If you are connected to a Trinity member who does not have online communication please pass the word on...

Online Worship will be available on Saturday!

This week we wrap up our look at the Lord's Prayer; Words we know very well, and yet it has been good to slow down and take an in depth look at the power behind the Words.

Today it is: Daily Bread, Forgiveness and pull us back from slipping into evil.  Wow!

God's blessings and prayers for Peace and Health to you all!

THY Kingdom Come...may not be what we expect!

The Old Testament reveals an interesting reality: that all things are connected and that we have a God given responsibility to act in supportive and life giving ways. This unseen "world wide web" was called "mishpat", and it is described in the Book of Genesis in terms of four relationships1. God to creation- joyous and good. 2. God to Humans-intimate with shared respect and love. 3. Humans to Humans- mutual respect , support, care and life giving action 4. Humans to creation - to care for, till, respect and love the "garden" God has created.

When Jesus prays "thy Kingdom come" it points to that intended reality:

Please have a God filled and safe weekend.

Hallowed, Holy, Respected....online Worship for August 23

Hello All!  Here is the link to your Trinity Online Worship for this weekend! Part two of the "Lord's Prayer",  Last week was "Our Father"  a declaration of the intimacy God wishes with us...that we could call God, "Abba"   Aramaic for "Daddy".  But Jesus reminds us that while God want to be a friend...at the same time balance is needed. We need to remember that likewise God isn't our Personal Assistant...  "Holy, revered, respected...

Online Worship...OUR FATHER

Today we enter into a third series from the Narrative Lectionary:  The Lord's Prayer.  Luther once said that if people have trouble praying they should use the Lord's Prayer...not as rote recotation but deep pndering and contemplation...to satrt out with OUR ...just think of wat this means...not MY but OUR ...a wonderful, intimate connection not only to God but to all humanity...and then FATHER. Luther said sometimes he spent two to three hours praying just those two words....

And Father...that is the focus for today...in Hebrew ABRAM is Father...Abrahim is revered Father...Ab is Dad and Abba is Daddy.  How radical that Jesus says we are to address God as Abba...wow
